Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Spaced (“Spaced”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Spaced Android app and the Spaced web app at spaced.page (together, the “Service”). We keep data collection to what the Service needs to work. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and the nickname you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
• Your study content. Topics (titles, notes, categories), review schedules, reminder times, completed reviews, custom categories and your learning history. This is the content you create so that it can sync between your devices.
• Usage and device information. The web app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand aggregate usage, such as pages visited, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type. Firebase may also collect technical data such as IP addresses and crash or diagnostic information needed to run the Service securely.
• Data stored on your device. Preferences like the theme, reminder settings and which reminders have already been shown are saved locally in your browser or on your phone. A local copy of your study content is cached so the Service works offline.

2. How we use information

• To create and secure your account and sign you in.
• To store your roadmaps and keep them in sync across the Android and web apps.
• To schedule and show review reminders. Android reminders are scheduled on your device; web reminders are shown by your browser.
• To respond to support requests and to improve the reliability and design of the Service.

We do not use your study content for advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

3. Service providers

Spaced is built on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Google Analytics for Firebase), and the website is hosted on Vercel. These providers process data on our behalf to operate the Service, under their own privacy and security terms. Data may be processed on servers outside your country.

4. Notifications

On Android, Spaced asks for permission to show notifications and schedules reminders locally on your device. On the web, Spaced uses your browser's notification feature only if you allow it. You can turn reminders off at any time in Settings or in your device or browser settings.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual topics at any time from the app; deletions sync to all your devices. To delete your account and all associated data, email support@spaced.page from the address linked to your account and we will delete it within 30 days. Signing out of a device removes the local copy stored on that device.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can export your data at any time from Settings → Export My Data. For anything else, contact us at support@spaced.page.

7. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and access to your study content is restricted to your signed-in account by Firebase security rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
